Born in Northampton, England, on April 28, 1894. A Canadian war veteran, Borman studied art at the AIC and under Pennell and Bellows. He arrived in Southern California in 1920 and was active in the Sierra Madre and Pasadena areas into the 1950s. Then moved to Joshua Tree, CA. I was introduced to Leonard in 1964 after moving to Yucca Valley, CA. We soon became great friends. In 1974, I had just opened my art gallery and frame shop and filled it with Leonard's paintings. After his wife Mae passed away in 1975, we invited him to come and live with us in Yucca Valley and then in Oregon until his death in Canyonville, OR, on August 15, 1995. Four years after his passing, I started the web site that ran for over 20 years (Leonard Borman Art) with 1000s of images of his paintings, photos, and drawings to pay tribute to his amazing life's work. Known works include landscapes, still life, marines, portraits, and animal paintings. Among his 1000s of collectors were the Millionaire 400 of the 1920s, movie celebrities, notable businessmen, bankers, corporate leaders, and many 1000s of painting and drawing to people worldwide. A short list of some of the well-known individuals that collected and commissioned his art were: actor Sebastian Cabot, Mae West, Mrs. Prentice Rockefeller, Mr. E. Boeing, Mr. Peabody, Mr. Dupont, Mrs. Singer, Firestone Tire CEO, Cunard-White Star Line, owners of the RMS Queen Mary. And many, many more. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - An added gift with the purchase of any LB Art is a free copy of the Leonard Borman Art website on DVD.
